County bar assn. honors Robeson
Comet staff report

The Carroll County Bar Association held its annual luncheon meeting in the circuit courtroom of the Carroll County courthouse on May 3. The meeting was well attended by members of the local bench and bar.

Delphi attorney Tom Ives, who serves as the Carroll County representative on the District IV Pro Bono committee, announced that local attorney Miriam Robeson was selected as the 2007 recipient for her pro bono work during 2006. The pro bono award recipient is designated on a plaque that will appear in the Carroll County Courthouse with a personal plaque to be awarded to the recipient. Robeson, who lives and practices law in the Flora area, performed numerous hours of pro bono work for and on behalf of many charitable organizations.

Pro bono is Latin meaning "for the public good." The pro bono recipient is recognized for his or her involvement in uncompensated legal services performed for the public good of the community.

As the Carroll County recipient, Robeson's name will now be considered among all District IV counties (Carroll, Clinton, Montgomery, Fountain, Warren, Benton, White and Tippecanoe) for the district award.

In other business, the association discussed the need for membership dues assessment, changes to local court rules, and a need for a new composite photograph of membership for the courthouse.
