Electric Workshop

4-H electric leaders will hold four electric workshops at the 4-H Community Building in Flora on the following dates:

+ May 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. (first and second year members only);

+ June 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. (all members);

+ June 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. (all members); and

+ June 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. (all members).

All workshops are hands-on. Members should bring their project. First-year members must bring their wooden mounting block.

There is no set agenda. Members can come and go as projects are finished.

At the fourth workshop, members may bring their projects and leaders will provide comments/suggestions to help prepare for the fair.

Livestock Workshops

4-H'ers taking beef, sheep or swine livestock projects should plan to attend the appropriate species workshop May 24 at the 4-H Community Building in Flora.

Swine will meet at 6 p.m. Sheep will meet at 7 p.m. Beef will meet at 8 p.m.

A judge will demonstrate showmanship techniques at the swine meeting. A PQA video all swine members are required to watch will be shown after the workshop.

Members should bring their project book to the meetings so they can complete a project activity. Taking livestock to the State Fair

In order to enroll animals to show at State Fair, members must have a premise I.D. number. For a form, call the Extension Office or download one from http://www.in.gov/ boah/premiseid/. Livestock enrollment forms are due June 1.

Owen Blue Ribbons

The Owen Blue Ribbons 4-H Club, led by Marna and JB Huffer, met recently and elected officers.

Senior Club officers (greater than five years of 4-H membership) are: Jill Griffin, president; Ryan Hendryx, vice president; Sarah Griffin, secretary; Jeremy Harshbarger, treasurer; Chad Griffin, reporter; and Clayton Michael-Butler, recreation.

Junior Club officers (five years of membership and less): are: Rachel Need, president; Mallory Huffer, vice president; Alyssa Amore, secretary; Carlie Schiery, treasurer; Quan Nguyen, reporter; Ally Williams and Lauralei Hutsell, recreation; and Mariah Gochenour and Nathan Miller, health and safety.

Six members have signed up to attend workshops at Purdue and eight members will be attending 4-H camp.

The club met last night and will meet next on June 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ag Barn.
