Rev. Huse returns from mission trip

One of seven wonders On a recent mission trip to India, the Rev. Joseph D. Huse (pictured) visited the Taj Mahal. While most of his trip was spent working with Baptist church partners, he did have the opportunity to visit one of the seven wonders of the world. The white marble tomb is a symbol of the undying love of a mogul king for his wife. Built over 350 years ago, the Taj Mahal required the physical labor of 20,000 workers, and artisans 22 years to complete. The marble is inlaid with semi-precious stones and carved designs. The complex around the Taj Mahal includes a mosque, a grand palace and well-kept gardens with three-shaded walks. Photo provided
Joseph D. Huse of Flora participated from April 9-26 in a mission trip to India. The majority of his time was spent in North East India working with Baptist Church partners in mission.

Rev. Huse was a keynote speaker and workshop presenter at the Council of Baptist Churches of North East India Annual meeting in Diphu, Assam. During the three-day event, he addressed the delegates during two worship services and conducted a workshop on relational evangelism. The conference theme was "Bearing Much Fruit."

During his travel, Rev. Huse made official visits to the Eastern Theological College, the Nagaland Baptist Church Convention in Kohema, Nagaland's state capitol, and a Christian hospital in Jorhat.

The second week of his mission was spent at the Pastor's Training Conference, sponsored by the Manipur Baptist Convention in Imphal. He was the featured speaker to open the conference and taught six workshop sessions. On Sunday morning, he preached through an interpreter, at a Tadhou Tribal Village church in Metburg, Manipur.

During his trip, Rev. Huse visited a national wildlife preserve and observed one-horn rhinoceros, horn deer and water buffalo from his mount on an Indian elephant. He said his stay at a resort hotel in Kaziranga was a pleasant over-night retreat from the heat, crowded cities, and abject poverty.

Rev. Huse has returned with a story to share and mission projects to complete as the partnership with the churches of NE India continues through a relationship with the International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches USA.
