Oracles baseball splits with Bison

Delphi baseball team split a pair of games at Benton Central Saturday.

In game one, the Oracles lost 10-0. Andrew Cebulla received the loss on the mound. It seemed every ball BC hit had eyes. The Bison kept putting the bat on the ball and the hits just kept falling in, coupled with four Oracle fielding errors.

In game two, Kyle Bender received the win, throwing a two-hitter. The defense played flawless. The Oracles were behind 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth with two outs when Coy Pennington singled. Braden Atwood hit a ball to the second baseman who mishandled it and Atwood reached first. Pennington went to third on the play. Atwood stole second and Pennington stole home to tie the score. Atwood then scored on Cebulla's single to left. This proved to be the final score, 2-1, as Bender shut the Bison bats down the final two at bats.

At Tri County, Andrew Flora led off with a double. Atwood sacrificed him to third and Flora scored on Mike Myers' rocket to short. But after that inning the Oracles could not muster up enough to score. The Oracles left six runners on base in the next few innings and could not get the hit when they needed it. Dustin Oliver picked up the loss on the mound. He had a good Oracle defense behind him that did not commit an error in the game.
