Tri Kappa attends State Convention The 57th State Convention of Tri Kappa was held recently in Indianapolis. Representing the Delphi Chapter were Darice Sheiss, delegate, and Susan Trueblood, alternate. Others who attended were Cathy Berkshire, Cassy Gasser, Patsy Hasser, Bonnie Horn, Donna Newell, Caryn Noonkester, Lisa Ringer, Kay Ross, Ami Tonsoni, and Carolyn Wood. The delegate from the Associate Chapter was Earleen Alvarez. Other associate members attending were Mary Helen Abbott, Mary Brown, and Pat Duff. Several business sessions and educational workshops were held during the three-day meeting. The Fine Arts winners from Province Conventions were on display. Pat Duff entered an afghan. Tri Kappa is a statewide philanthropic organization known for its work in charity, culture, and education. It was announced that Tri Kappa has donated over $3 million during the last two years at the local and state levels of philanthropic projects in Indiana. A major philanthropic project is Riley Hospital. The project this term was the Critical Care Center inpatient facility. Over $37,000 was given to Riley. Other state committees giving reports were: Scholarship, Mental Health, Fine Arts, and Gifted and Talented. The Delphi Chapter was established in 1921 and now has 40 members. Its projects are Adopt A Spot, Art Show, Bloodmobile, Carroll County Cancer Association, Scholarships, Cheryl Miller Walk, Mental Health Christmas Party, Music Camp, Special Olympics, Girls State, Visit with Santa, and Family Health Clinic. |
