Carroll wins conference math contest
Each school sent four students in each of five test categories: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. There were two parts to the competition: 1) An individual test lasting 60 minutes, and 2) A 30-minute team test where all four team members work together. Carroll's math teams won all five of the test categories, while Rossville took second in Pre- Calculus and Calculus, third in Algebra II and Geometry, and fourth in Algebra I. Three types of awards were presented: + Individual ribbons in each test category for performance on the individual test. + Each test category had a champion based on the individual test results and the team test results. + An overall conference champion was crowned based on the total results of all five test areas. Individual results for Carroll and Rossville follow: Algebra I: Carroll - 1st Aaron Spesard, 4th Chami Ayres, 5th Susanna Taylor (tie), 9th Quinci Eller. Rossville - 5th Robbie Hawkins (tie). Algebra II: Carroll: 2nd Michael Myer, 5th Crystal Keck, 9th Patrick Forgey. Rossville - 1st Erika Itakura, 6th Dane Snyder. Geometry: Carroll - 1st Carson Spesard, 2nd Travis Martin, 3rd Kaitlin Kennedy, 8th Malena Zook. Rossville - 3rd Daniel Gascho (tie). Pre-Calculus: Carroll - 1st Aurora Shands and Angel Jackson (tie), 3rd Valerie Allbaugh, 5th Krystal Brazel. Rossville - 4th Ply Potprapanpong. Calculus: Carroll - 1st Lindsay Stiller, 2nd Seth Foster, 4th Shane Clingenpeel, 6th Amanda Fields. Rossville - 2nd Aaron Brovont, 9th Amy Stark.
