Vernon F. Sutton Vernon F. Sutton, 70, of Delphi, formerly of Lafayette, died at 4:20 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007. Born in Allenville, Ill., he was the son of Vernon Gerald Sutton and Mable Lilly Piercy. He graduated from Assumption High School in Assumption, Ill., in 1958. His marriage was on Nov. 2, 1958, in Sullivan, Ill., to Sharon Lee Harrmann, who preceded him in death. Vernon owned and operated Sharon's Flowers in Lafayette for 15 years. He served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Lafayette. Vernon enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, going out with family, watching sports, and gun collecting. He was an avid Purdue and Bears fan. Surviving are two sons, Vernon L. "Sonny" Sutton of Lafayette and Ty O. Sutton (wife: Susan) of Delphi; a daughter, Kimberle D. "Kim" Lear of Delphi; a sister, Sonja Nelson (husband: Bill) of Taylorville, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Nate F. Lear, Brandon L. Lear, Kendal D. Sutton, Summer D. Sutton, and Maddy H. Sutton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Celebrant Carla Ellis will officiate. Internment will be at Pretty Prairie Cemetery, Battleground. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Abbott Funeral Home. Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette, is in charge of arrangements.
