Library Delphi Public Library will present "The Pursuit of Happyness," at 7 p.m. on May 17. The movie is based on the true story of Chris Gardner, a salesman who, when his wife leaves him, struggles with his son through homelessness, jail time, tax seizure and despair in a quest for Gardner to make ends meet and become a potential millionaire. Discussion and refreshments will follow. Evening Book Club will meet May 23 at 7 p.m. to discuss "Year of Wonders" by Geraldine Brooks. The story of a 1666 English village succumbing to the plague is one of hope and inspiration with events told by Anna, a survivor and village heroine. Faith Inspired Book Club will meet May 24 at 9 a.m. to discuss "The Treasure Box" by Penelope Stoke. An enchanted chest brings events that threaten to change the life of a bitter travel writer Vita Kirk. Starting to plan your gardens or spring landscaping projects? The library's collection of books will inspire and motivate you. Books about building backyard structures, English Gardens, patios, floral gardens, vegetables, herbs, shrubs and fruit bearing trees are available at the library. The preschool classes from the Flora United Methodist Church's Playschool took a trip to the library during their class time. Deb Foreman teaches the UMC Playschool. Don't miss the Art Enrichment exhibits throughout the library. Students from Carroll Elementary third, fourth, and fifth grades have their works displayed in the Richter Program Room and on the main level of the library. Art Enrichment is taught by Grace Woodruff and sponsored by Flora Psi Iota Xi and the Carroll Elementary Gifted and Talented program. Psi Otes' contribution includes a grant from the Tippecanoe Arts Federation and the Indiana Arts Commission. Do you know someone who loves to read, but can't come to the library due to limited mobility or age? Library Direct is a service offered by the library to help individuals in the library district who are homebound. This includes the elderly, handicapped, and those temporarily incapacitated by long-term illness or injury. Applications for this free service are available at the library. Let us bring the gift of reading to your loved ones, friends, and neighbors! The theme for next storytime is "Eggs." Bring your preschooler to the library for some egg-celent stories! Storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Call Dial-A-Story to hear a James Whitcomb Riley poem read by Carroll Elementary fourth grader Danielle Amsbury reciting, "Little Girl, Two Little Girls."
