George Memorial Run/Walk is May 6

The 6th annual Julie George Run/Walk will be held May 6 at Frontier High School. The run/walk is a celebration of the life of Julie George, who died Jan. 22, 2002, when she was a junior at FHS. Julie was active in cross country, basketball, track, cheerleading, choir and Sunshine Society. Because of her love of life and running, the run/walk was established.

The event is non-competitive and all ages are encouraged to participate. Dogs on leashes are welcome, too. Walkers may choose either 1.5 or 3 miles, while runners may choose 3 or 5 miles. Snacks will be provided at the finish line for all who participate. The run/walk will begin at 1 p.m.

T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 150 registrants. Participants may register early by mail or beginning at noon on May 6 at FHS. A single entry is $10 and a family entry is $25 (limit of three shirts).

All proceeds benefit the Julie George Memorial Scholarship Fund. During the past five years, 18 scholarships amounting to over $14,000 have been awarded to Frontier graduates in memory of Julie. Three more scholarships will be awarded this May.

Julie's parents are Carroll varsity football coach Rick and Ann George of Brookston.
