4-H News

Poultry Workshop

The poultry workshop will be April 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the 4-H Community Building in Flora. Members should bring their project books. Those who wish to show broilers should contact leaders by May 1 so the order can be placed.

Rabbit Workshop

4-H rabbit leaders will meet April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the 4-H Community Building in Flora. Enter from the east side.

4-H Camp

4-Hers in grades three to six may take part in the 4-H camp June 6-8 at Camp Tecumseh. Members from eight counties will enjoy swimming, making new friends and activities including crafts, Mt. Wood, the zip line, black hole, foods, cabin skits and challenges. Registration is due by April 27. Contact the 4-H office for information.

Sheep Weigh-in

All 4-H sheep must be eartagged, retinal image scanned and weighed by the 4-H Sheep Committee to be eligible to show in 2007. To participate in the rate-of-gain contest, the weigh-in date is May 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Flora. A second date is May 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. Pre-registration will be on a first-call basis and may be obtained through the extension office at (765) 564- 3169.

Goat Weigh-in

All 4-H Meat Wether goats must be ear-tagged, retinal image scanned and weighed by the 4-H Goat Committee to be eligible to show in 2007. The weigh-in date is May 10 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Flora. Those with only dairy or pygmy goats must enroll by May 15.

Horse Measure-in

Horses will be measured May 2 from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at the horse arena, Flora. Members must complete new registration forms for all horses. Young Wranglers will have a short business meeting at 7 p.m. Members are reminded to bring two duplicate photos of each horse.

Share-the-Fun Contest

The annual Carroll County Share-the-Fun Contest will be May 4 at 7 p.m. in the Little Theatre at Delphi Community High School. The contest will highlight 4-Hers' talents in skit, music, dance and magic routines.

4-H Scrapbooking

4-Hers enrolled in the scrapbook project for the first time are encouraged to attend a question and answer meeting May 3 from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. at the 4-H Community Building in Flora. Members should bring their project books, the 4-H handbook, an adult and questions. Project requirements will be discussed at the meeting.
