Rail lines through Carroll County could be used as a means to haul nuclear waste through the county on the way to a nuclear waste storage site in Nevada. The U.S. Senate approved the storage site at Yucca Mountain, Nev., last week.

There are nine nuclear waste travel routes through Indiana which are approved, including the Norfolk Southern line from Fort Wayne to Lafayette. That line goes through Delphi, Burrows and Rockfield in Carroll County.

According to reports from Norfolk and Southern, the line has already been used to transport spent nuclear fuel.

Five places broken into at Camden during the night Thursday were discovered Friday morning.

They were Camden elementary school, Camden Town Hall, The Flower Barn, Dillon's Shell Station and Sullivan Insurance Agency.

Money was taken at each place with the exception of The Flower Barn. The loss reportedly amounted to over $900.

At the school, all rooms were entered and two soft drink machines were broken into. At the Town Hall, the front door was forced and the filing cabinet door pried open.

A door was forced open at Dillons where the cash register and cigarette and candy machines were opened.

The back door was entered at the Insurance Agency where a desk was opened.

Young people attending the Elvis Presley show at Fort Wayne Saturday night came back without a bruise or scratch to prove they had been there. They reported that plenty of police were on hand to try to prevent any demonstration when the rock 'n' roll artist appeared. The singer's manager appeared first and gave instructions to the youthful audience concerning their behavior. Evidently the precautions were effective. The Elvis fans who drove to Fort Wayne from here were Justine Hackett, Ed Cunningham, Dolorita Vianco and a group from Rockfield. Although he sang 14 songs, the swooning and screaming of the "10,000 adolescents" drowned out the words.

A furious rally in the closing minutes fell just two points short and the Oracles were eliminated by the Lebanon Tigers 31 to 29 in the first round of the state tourney.

The inexperienced Oracles were unable to get going in the first three quarters and trailed all the way. Not until the last quarter did they show any semblance of the form which had brushed aside regional opposition the week before. During the first half they shot 23 times, all but four being inside the foul circle, and hit but two. At that they outscored the Tigers, counting 12 field goals in 46 attempts while the Tigers collected 11 in 35 attempts. Accuracy at the foul line gave the Tigers the victory as they hit 9 of 11 chances while the Oracles hit 5 of 10.

Judge Wason has had a raise in salary from $3,300 to $3,500 by the signature of the governor to a bill which recently passed the legislature. Until less than a year ago the salary was only $2,800, which makes an increase of $700 since Judge Wason's term commenced, over the salary of any former judge.
