Garden Fair is Saturday in Flora

The Carroll County Garden Club is hosting the 11th annual Carroll County Flower and Garden Fair on April 28.

It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Merchants' Building at the Flora Community Park.

Vendors will have flower, herb, and vegetable plants along with hanging baskets, wooden planters, birdhouses, trellises, and garden art for sale. One vendor is bringing ornamental grasses, some of which are native to Indiana.

The Garden Club started the garden fair to promote local lawn and garden businesses and to encourage gardening at all ages. This year there will be packets of flower seeds free to the first 50 children at the fair.

Club members will conduct a free raffle of plants and other garden goodies, with drawings every 30 minutes.

At 1 p.m., Keith Wolf, long-time garden club member, will talk about growing alpine plants and creating miniature alpine gardens.

The Carroll County Garden Club welcomes new members and holds meetings on the second Saturday of each month except December.
