Delphi wrestlers earn All-American honors While many families were off on a vacation over spring break, two Team Delphi wrestlers chose to compete in the USA Folkstyle National Championships held in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Tanner Cripe wrestled at 120 pounds, placing fifth out of 26 wrestlers. He had a great first day, winning all three of his matches. On day two, Tanner lost his first match and then lost his second match that allowed him to wrestle for fifth place. By winning the match for fifth place, he became an All- American. Braden Atwood wrestled at 160 pounds. There were 27 wrestlers in his weight class. He made it hard on himself by losing the first match of the tournament. He then won the next four matches, earning him All-American honors, too. He lost the next match and then pinned his last opponent to place seventh. To be an All-American a wrestler had to place in the top eight of his weight division. Both of these young men got to meet and talk with Olympian Lincoln McIlreavy, who passed out the All-American medals. |
