National Library Week (April 15-21) is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers in schools, campuses and communities nationwide - and the perfect time for the community to come together at the library. The national observance is sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country.

Everyday, libraries help transform their communities. At the Flora Library, people of all backgrounds can come together for community meetings, programs, to work on their GED diploma, to research with the assistance of a trained professional, find homework help, use the free Internet access, even bring your own laptop in for free wireless Internet.

Come to the library during Library Week to enjoy the Art Enrichment displays from Carroll Elementary's third, fourth, and fifth graders. Grace Woodruff teaches the after-school classes.

Discover our Saturday morning book club which will discuss Rick Bragg's "It's All Over but the Shoutin'."

Bring your preschoolers to storytime, and call Dial-astory to listen to Carroll Elementary fourth graders reciting James Whitcomb Riley poems.

For more information, visit the library, call 967-3912 or see the library's Web site at www.flora.lib.in.us.

The Flora Library will celebrate "National Library Workers Day" with free refreshments on April 17. The event will be held in conjunction with the American Library Association-Allied Professional Association's national celebration. It is a time to honor the contributions of all library workers, including librarians, support staff and others who make library services possible.

The celebration of Poetry Month continues on Dial-a- Story. Presently, Mekenzie Gear can be heard reciting, "When the Frost is on the Punkin." Friday the featured student will be Madison Rinehart, performing, "The Jaybird." Call Dial-A-Story 24 hours a day, 967-3814.

The theme for next storytime is "Library Week," with stories, songs and more. Storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.
