DAR Good Citizens are named

Charles Carroll Chapter of the DAR has announced its Good Citizen Award winners for the school year ending in 2007. They are Carroll senior Lindsay Stiller and Delphi senior Ann Mears.
The Good Citizen Award was established in 1934 to recognize and reward senior high school students who possess the qualities of good citizenship: dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in homeschool and community. Each award is given on a merit basis, including completion of a questionnaire, essay, scholastic record, and a letter of recommendation.
Ann Mears
Mears is the daughter of George and Deborah Mears of Delphi. She is a member of Key Club, National Honor Society, Delphi Community High School fall play, Academic Art Superbowl Team, Oracle Yearbook, Future Farmers of America, Spanish Club and Battle of the Books. In sports, she is on the tennis team.
Her extracurricular activities include 4-H member for ten years, Delphi United Methodist Church, and crew leader for youth group for four years. She also cleans houses and provides childcare.
Mears is involved in various community service activities including beautification at the Camden Senior Citizens Housing, Carroll County 4-H Fairgrounds, and Riley Park. She has also helped with landscaping at Camp Tecumseh Outdoor Center and at Delphi Community High School.

Her future plans include attending Purdue University this fall to major in the field of agriculture economics.
Lindsay Stiller
Stiller is involved in school activities, including Key Club, Sunshine, Spanish Club, math team, and yearbook. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, prom committee, Battle of the Books, Pep Club, and treasurer of the senior class. Through Key Club and National Honor Society, she averages about five hours of community service a month. In sports, she is on the volleyball, softball and swimming teams.
The daughter of Bob and Becky Stiller of Flora, she is in the top ten of her class.
She has participated in math conference, placing second her junior year. She has received the Principal's Leadership Award, Softball Mental Attitude Award, and Volleyball Award.
Lindsay's extracurricular activities include ten-year member of 4-H, health and safety officer for one year, Burlington Youth Group six-year member. She has provided childcare for families throughout high school and during the summer. In November 2006, she was able to go to the polls and vote for the first time.
Lindsay plans to attend college and major in history and possibly government. One of her goals is to attend law school and eventually work in a corporate setting. She is also interested in becoming involved in the portion of government involving schools and education.
