Substitute mail carrier, Kenneth Brown, noticed steam coming from the hood of his vehicle and returned to Delphi for repairs. After crossing the railroad tracks on Franklin Street, the vehicle filled with smoke and flames shot through the dash. Brown managed to get the vehicle halted, despite failure of the brake system. Entrance into the rear of the vehicle to retrieve the remaining bundles of mail was unsuccessful because of a back draft of smoke and flames. Within two minutes, pressure built up and blew the glass out of the vehicle. 60% of the delivery was complete and four of the remaining bundles were saved. The fire and water-damaged items were laid out at the Post Office to dry and air out. Salvageable items are being sorted and placed in special plastic bags and will be delivered to customers.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the reopening of the Burlington Community Library was held Saturday.
The library came about after several in the community saw the need for a library since the only ones available are in Flora and Kokomo and they were at a charge.
The Burlington Community Library opened in the Hometown Federal Savings & Loan building.
The new location is in the Gregory Davis building, vacated by Brewster Insurance Agency.
The librarians are all volunteer workers and more are needed.
There are now over 4000 books in the library. Area businesses have contributed much to its success.

The Camden Community Club and Woman's Literary Club of Camden are planning a celebration on the one-hundredth anniversary of the founding of the town of Camden for April 5, 1932.
Just one hundred years ago on that date the town of Camden was laid out. Since then it has become quite a flourishing little city. The celebration will be held in honor of this progress and in honor of the first laying out of the city.
Complete plans for the affair have not been worked out and will be announced later by the organizations that are helping with the endeavor.

E.E. Pruitt, city attorney of Delphi, has devoted much of the time since his acceptance of the office in examining the law and as a result last Friday morning filed complaints against every saloon man in Delphi for violating not only the Coble ordinance but also the Nicholson state law. They all, 10 in number, appeared before the mayor and were each fined $10. Their bond was fixed at $50, and they became each other's bondsmen. The cases now go to the circuit court on appeal.
