Munson adjudicated a sexual predator
Munson pled guilty to child molestation, a Class B felony and child exploitation, a Class C felony. Munson declined to testify at the hearing. His court-appointed attorney, Kurtis Fouts, told the court his client accepted responsibility for his behavior. He said Munson's parents were supportive of him as a son, but they "did not support what he did." County attorney Tricia Thompson told the court the effect of Munson's actions on the victim "was very significant." She said the family is fearful that digitized photos of the victim will someday appear on the Internet. The victim's mother testified the victim was in therapy at least twice a month initially, but is now attending one time each month. She said that because Munson was her boyfriend at the time of the crime, she lost custody of her child and the child no longer is able to live with her siblings. Currie sentenced Munson to 28 years total and suspended six years. He will serve 22 years and received 285 days credit for time already served. Munson will be on probation after being released from prison. the times |
