Library The month of April is designated as National Poetry Month. There are seven goals for National Poetry Month: To highlight the extraordinary legacy and ongoing achievement of American poets; to introduce more Americans to the pleasures of reading poetry; to bring poets and poetry to the public in immediate and innovative ways; to make poetry a more important part of the school curriculum; to increase the attention paid to poetry by national and local media; to encourage increased publication, distribution, and sales of poetry books; and to increase public and private philanthropic support for poets and poetry. The library is celebrating National Poetry Month by inviting fourth grade students from Carroll Elementary School to recite their James Whitcomb Riley poems on our Dial-A-Story. Presently Karlee Kitchell can be heard reading the poem, "Little Girl, Two Little Girls." Friday the featured student will be Mekenzie Gear, a student in Diane Rout's class performing, "When the Frost is on the Punkin." Call Dial-AStory 24 hours a day, 967- 3814. The income tax deadline is fast approaching. Basic tax forms are available in the technology center. Forms, publications and tax help are available online. People can access the federal and Indiana tax resource sites from the library homepage, www.flora.lib.in.us. The theme for the next storytime is "Rain." April showers bring May flowers. Let's talk about the weather while we stay nice and dry in the library! Storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. |
