Delphi FFA presents awards at 26th annual banquet

Delphi FFA held its annual banquet March 7. Opening ceremonies were led by the former officers. Brittany Wise and Kara Schwarzkopf presented a Year in Review slideshow.

Parents, members and community guests were served a meal prepared by the high school cafeteria and sponsored by Indiana Packers Corporation.

Recognition for community service events was given to the following:

+ Relay for Life: Adam Lenard, Kisa Wood, C.J. Blunt, Darci Bradshaw, Brittnay Munday, Amber Caputo, James Melroy, Cody Hayden, Morgan Minnicus, Nathan Trapp, Brandon Rader, Mark Minnicus, Brittany Wise, Paige Keys, April Trapp, Brock Farrell, Alex Conner, Kristina Barnard, Kyle Davis and Sydney Smith;

+ REMC annual meeting: Nicole Randle, Amber Caputo, Cody Hayden, Morgan Minnicus, April Trapp, Nathan Trapp, Branden Rader, Mark Minnicus, Paige Keys, Brittany Wise and Katie Randle;

+ Carroll County Ag Day: Nathan Trapp, Adam Leonard, Branden Rader, Mark Minnicus and Mason Clawson;

+ Senior citizen sweet corn: Nathan Trapp, Branden Rader, C.J. Blunt, Mason Clawson, Morgan Minnicus, Natalie Garrison, Mark Minnicus, Paige Keys and Chris Royer;

+ State fair set-up and work day: Morgan Minnicus, Cody Hayden, B.J. Lawson, Tyler Cocanower, Michael Clendening and Paige Keys;

+ Christmas baskets and toy donations: Nathan Trapp, Mason Clawson, Brittany Wise, Tyler Cocanower, Morgan Minnicus, Mark Minnicus, Colt Little, April Trapp, Anne Mears and Katie Randle; and

+ Test plot work: Nathan Trapp, Mark Minnicus and Branden Rader.

Students recognized for area VIII career development events included:

+ Soils judging team: Brittany Wise, Megan Rossetter, Abi Leahy and Ariel Randle;

+ Horse judging team: Jessica Clendening, Shontell Garth, Brittany Munday and Amanda Ennis; and

FFA Greenhands Delphi FFA members received Greenhand degrees at the March 7 annual banquet. District V Leadership Contest winners included:

+ Essay: Nathan Trapp;

+ Quiz Bowl: Colt Little and Tyler Cocanower;

+ Weding: Adam Lenard, Colt Little and Mark Minnicus;

+ Ag Production: Brandon Rader and Nathan Trapp;

+ Scapbook: Brittany Wise and Kara Schwarzkopf;

+ Beef Production Proficiency: Nathan Trapp (advances to state competition);

Delphi FFA members receive Chapter Farmer degrees Chapter farmer degrees were presented at the Delphi FFA banquet. The highest degree a chapter can bestow on its members, the award is usually presented during the member's second or third year. To be eligible, members must earn and productively invest $150 or work at least 45 hours outside the classroom in the SAE program, show individual achievement and have a satisfactory scholastic record among other requirements. Star Agribusiness Award and Mental Attitude Award were presented to Zach White.

Greenhand officers for 2007- 08 were named: Kara Schwarzkopf, president; Kris Bender, vice president; Kati Jeffery, secretary; Brooke Mears, treasurer; John Christiansen, reporter; Megan Rossetter, sentinel; and Amber Blackburn, advisor.

Chapter officers for 2007-08 are as follow: Morgan Minnicus, president; Chris Royer, vice president; Brittany Wise, secretary; Mason Clawson, treasurer; Cale Rader, sentinel; April Trapp, reporter; Adam Lenard, parliamentarian; and Alex Conner, advisor.

Businesses were recognized for provisions: Sherri Mears for a hay wagon; Nathan Wilson and Mike Beale for hay plots; Bart Walters and Beale for test plots; and Dick Bradshaw of Delphi Body Works.
