In a hard-fought battle between Carroll and Delphi, the junior high Battle of the Books contest came down to just three more right answers for Carroll.
The final score in the Bacon Bits Bowl was Carroll 63, Delphi 60. Although the Delphi team was ahead by one at the end of the first round of 20 questions, Carroll battled back and took the lead after 40 questions at halftime.
The Carroll team then maintained and added to their score as the next 40 questions were read and answered.
Aided by a plethora of snacks and pop at their table, the Carroll contestants reveled in their victory and promised to win the high school contest next year. With only a few exceptions, these same team members won the first junior high Battle of the Books in 2006.
