Pop tabs benefit Ronald McDonald House
Carroll Elementary collected pop tabs as a recycling project to benefit Riley Hospital's Ronald McDonald House. The project started in Andrea O'Brien's sixth grade class with a goal of 175,000 pop tabs - the number of children served by Riley each year. Then the whole school got involved, collecting a total of 571,159 tabs. The top three collectors were Owen Seward, 87,477 tabs; Aaron King, 44,000; and Brooke Ennis and Eli Ball, a tie, together collecting 34,901. Flora Kiwanis Club took the pop tabs for recycling. The tabs produced a donation of $243.10 to the Ronald McDonald House. Students pictured, front to back, are Owen, Aaron, and Brooke. Kiwanis members pictured, l-r, are Theresa Brown, Miriam Robeson, Marlene Ramsey, and Don Ramsey.
