Library April is National Poetry Month. Established in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets, National Poetry Month brings together libraries, schools, booksellers and poets to celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. Celebrate Poetry Month at the library by calling Dial-A-Story. During April, fourth graders from Carroll Elementary School will read poems written by James Whitcomb Riley on Dial-A-Story. The first poem will begin this Friday. Karlee Kitchell, a student in Mrs. Gish's class will read, "Little Girl, Two Little Girls." Each week Dial-A-Story, 967- 3814, will feature a new reading. A new class offering by Brenda Daly Reid, "Portrait Drawing," will be on Monday evenings, April 2- 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This class is suggested for those who have taken prior classes, but all are welcome. Due to the detail and study involved, only one piece will be finished in the five-week course. Students will study the structure of the human head, with attention to relationship of parts, in various views and poises. Greater emphasis will be placed upon this, than on likeness, since likeness cannot be achieved without these fundamentals. Graphite will be the medium used. There is a small course fee, and a materials list can be obtained at the library or by calling the instructor at 765-209-1540. Delphi Public Interested in joining a book discussion group?
