Richard Lee Rouhier

Richard Lee "Dick" Rouhier, 67, of Rockfield, passed away at 8:40 a.m. March 14, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi. He had been in ill health since Feb. 2, and a resident at the center since Feb. 20.

Born Sept. 8, 1939, in Logansport, he was the son of Leo Rouhier and Zona Mae Coble Rouhier Wilburn. He graduated from Camden High School in 1957. His marriage was to Marilyn J. Fincher in Rockfield on June 18, 1961, and she survives.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he served from 1957 to 1961. He was stationed in the Philippines and attained the rank of MMFN.

Mr. Rouhier was an ironworker, working for Local #379 in Lafayette for 30 years, until he retired in 2001.

He was a member of Rockfield Christian Church and served as a volunteer fireman for the Rock Creek Township Fire Department in Rockfield.

He enjoyed vegetable gardening, bird watching and reading his birding books.

Surviving are two daughters, René Thompson (husband: David) of Lafayette and Michelle Michael (husband: John) of Rockfield; two sons, Scott Rouhier of Lafayette and Tony Rouhier (wife: Jana) of Camden; two stepsisters, Penny Morgan (husband: Mark) of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Jacqueline Virney (husband: John) of Kewanna; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi, with Pastor Paul Marcellino officiating. Military rites were performed by Camden American Legion Post #413. A private family burial was held at Rockfield I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
