Library Delphi Library In Stitches Fiber Arts Circle will meet March 27 at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in knitting, crocheting, spinning or quilting should bring a project to work on and a dessert or snack to share. This is a great opportunity to swap ideas, patterns, laughs and conversation. An Evening with Gene Stratton Porter, presented by Vickie Fuller- Kibellus, will be April 4 at 6:30 p.m. Residing near the homes of Gene Stratton Porter, Fuller-Kibellus was inspired to write and direct shows about the author and naturalist. Dressed in authentic costume, Fuller-Kibellus takes on the persona of the famous Hoosier author and speaks of Stratton Porter's childhood in Wabash County, her love of nature, and her career of one of America's favorite authors. The presentation, which includes music, inspiration and humor, is free to the public and appropriate for the entire family. Call the library at (765) 564-2929 to reserve a seat. A Book Smorgasbord is planned for April 18 from 10 a.m. to noon in celebration of National Library Week, which runs from April 16-21. There will be book talks, prizes and food. Help celebrate by visiting the local library and checking out a book or two. Plan on joining the library staff for the entire morning or at least drop in for a book talk or two and help us celebrate books. Frankfort Public Judy Berkshire of Camden will be presenting a gardening class entitled, "Growing Herbs for Potpourri and Scents" on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Frankfort Public Library. Frankfort Garden Club and the Friends of the Frankfort Library are sponsors. Berkshire will bring some herbs for sample sniffing and some dried herbs that work well in potpourri. Topics to be covered include: the best herbs for strong scents, tips for growing these herbs, how to collect and dry herbs and flowers, the difference between wet and dry potpourri, ingredients and supplies for making dry potpourri, dry potpourri recipes and how to use essential oils to enhance a potpourri's scent. There is no charge for this program. However registration in advance is appreciated and can be made at the library circulation desk or by calling 765-654-8746. |
