People are already inquiring about the Comet's annual Hog Jog. In fact, the first entry arrived last week and the race hasn't been advertised yet! The entry came from a former Purdue student who ran the race with his girlfriend last year. Unfortunately they registered after all the T-shirts were gone, much to their disappointment, especially his girlfriend's. The student now resides in Tennessee and his girlfriend moved back home to Boston. He entered early to assure that he would be able to obtain a Hog Jog T-shirt for her. The reason is explained in his letter which follows: "...My girlfriend had never seen a hog until the day of the race and her family and friends in Boston wouldn't believe there was such a thing as a Hog Jog. Please help me brighten her day by proving that your great race indeed exists and is among the best I have ever entered. Boston isn't the only place where great races exist."

After almost one month of questioning Flora grade children in recent break-ins at the E.E. Landis Equipment Company, in Flora, Deputy Sheriff John Miller caught a 7-year old Flora lad in the act of rifling the cash drawer of the Landis company.

A Flora business man saw the lad in front of the store and when he glanced back the lad had suddenly disappeared, so he notified Miller and Flora Policeman William Baum, who apprehended the child a few minutes later with his hand in the cash drawer.

The first grader confessed to entering the Vorhees Lumber Company office and the Flora Sawmill.

The boy admitted two previous entries at the Landis company.

He said he took $5.15 in each previous burglary of the Landis company cash register, in addition to .20 from a March of Dimes container.

The child's mother indicated that restitution would be made. The lad handed over the 90 cents he had in his hand.

Poplar Grove, near Young America, that went off the map 20 years ago, when its post office was taken away is to be rebuilt. Prior to that time it had been a prosperous hamlet, with two general stores, a mill, a blacksmith shop and a cluster of dwellings. After the post office has ceased to exist the stores were moved away, the mill burned and the blacksmith shop abandoned. For many years the site of the former town has been marked only by a few empty and dilapidated buildings. Now it is said that the place is to be made a business center again. Arrangements have been made to open a couple of stores and start a mill there.
