Delphi Middle School swimmers finish 8-1 for best season record ever

The Delphi Community Middle School swim team defeated Lewis Cass 96-87 for the first time ever, finishing the season with its best record in school history at 8 wins, 1 loss.

The Oracle swimmers recorded only one first place by Chelsey Marcotte in diving, but used team depth to pull out the win. Delphi placed second and third in 11 events and had five events with second, third and fourth place to keep the Kings at bay.

The evening's highpoint was Delphi's first, second and third place in diving for a 13-point swing. It was a true team win with many swimmers posting personal best times.

Delphi's only loss was at the hands of Twin Lakes who has an age group swim program based middle school swim team. DCMS also won the Rensselaer Relays.

Delphi has 58 swimmers on this year's team, with 26 being eighth graders. There were 27 swimmers on the A team and 31 on the B team. The B team only had one meet officially scored as Twin Lakes was the only other school to field enough swimmers to fill all the A and B events. The B team swimmers garnered much experience by swimming at all five home meets, an intersqaud meet, and three time trials.

The DCMS swim team earlier defeated Clinton Central 105-78. The Oracles won five events and again used team depth to gain many second, third and fourth place finishes. First place went to Justin Bennett, diving; Jordan Hudelson, 50 butterfly; Erika Matrica, 400 freestyle; 200 freestyle relay - Keaton Garrison, Rollie Taylor, Abbey Mose and Alex Price; and Payton Windell, 100 backstroke.
