Delbert E. Alspaugh Delbert E. Alspaugh, 87, Delphi, passed away March 9, 2007, at 5:25 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. He had been a resident there since Feb. 21. Mr. Alspaugh was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Templeton, to Samuel and Matilda Mae Denzin Alspaugh. He was a 1937 graduate of Oxford High School. His marriage was to Bernadine Stellar on Oct. 28, 1966, in Delphi, and she survives. In WWII, the Navy veteran served in the South Pacific on the destroyer USS Woodworth DD46. He owned and operated Alspaugh Contracting, building residential homes in the Delphi area for 43 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Alspaugh was a Scout Master for the Cub and Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed fishing and cooking. Surviving are two sons, Lawrence "Larry" Alspaugh (wife: Roberta) of Lakeland, Fla., and Douglas Alspaugh (wife: Lisa) of Clearwater, Fla.; a stepson, Ron Israel (wife: Jan) of Monticello; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, four greatgrandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Services were held Tuesday at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi, officiated by the Reverends Tim Stewart and Jeff Tomson. Burial was at the Masonic Cemetery in Delphi with full military rites by Delphi American Legion and VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll County Cancer Association. |
