Katelyn J. Frist, Frontier senior

Katelyn Frist, 18, Battle Ground, is the daughter of David and Shirley Frist.

The Frontier senior was nominated by her family and consumer science teacher, Peg Arqerbright, who also serves as the FACS Club sponsor.

Frist has helped with the Student Council Blood Drive for two years, 4-H chili supper fund-raisers, attended Hoosier Girls State at Indiana State University, participated in club service projects, helped make and serve food for the senior breakfast, designs and decorates bulletin boards, helped paint a frog in the Frog Follies of the Lafayette Art Federation, and helped clean the grounds at Battle Ground Elementary.

She is a nine-year member of the Prairie 4-H Club accomplishing various service projects and completing many different projects for the fair. She is a member of the National Honor Society and two years on the Junior Honor Society, Student Council, volleyball team and varsity volleyball captain, Winter Club Volleyball (The Force). She volunteers time at the St. Mary's Cathedral's Summer Bible School, and also attended the Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders.

She also volunteers at youth camps and food kitchens, organizes blood drives and fund-raisers for Riley Hospital and making magnets for the Cody Lehe Fund. She likes to reach out to those in need and gives freely of her time.

Her hobbies include playing volleyball, journalism, running, painting, writing, drawing, reading, playing piano, dating, listening to music, shopping, cooking, being with family, friends and boyfriend, and watching movies.

She has achieved the Top Scholar Award and is ranked third in her class with a 3.8 grade point average. She was voted All White County 2006 and was chosen as a Herald Journal Scholar-Athlete. She has received the Volleyball Athletic Award, Volleyball Frontier Camp, completion of projects in 4-H, Volleyball Setting Award, varsity letter for two years, Top Scholar Award, Girl's Track and Field Athletic Award, Certificate of Appreciation for Duck Stamp Design Contest, Midwest Conference Writing Contest participant, Outstanding Academic Excellence Award, 4-H Junior Leaders Participant, Midwest Conference Volleyball League, English Award, Art Award, Brookston Sesquicentennial Mural Design winner Award, Semester Honor Roll for four years, and the Midwest Conference Math Contest Alternate.
