Bethany Hufford,Rossville senior

Bethany Hufford, 17, Rossville, is the daughter of Brian and Carla Hufford.

The Rossville senior was nominated by her guidance counselor, Chylene Price.

Hufford has studied piano for 11 years and has sung the National Anthem at sporting events each year.

She has served weekly as the church pianist at Living Stone non-denominational church and has sung to the elderly at Milner's Nursing Home in Rossville.

She is a very active member of her church and church youth group. She is a member of RTTT or "Race To The Throne." This group of students meets outside of school to pray for their teachers, school and community. She has been a leader of this group for the past four years, and leads the group in lessons and in Bible study.

Hufford has also participated in a school-sponsored community activity called the PEERS Project. This is a service to middle school students in providing and presenting information regarding friendship and peer pressure, health relationships, sexually transmitted disease, drugs and sexual activity, parenthood as a lifelong commitment, media influences, and assertiveness training as they relate to abstinence.

She ranks 10th out of 85 senior students and her grade point average is a 3.55/4.00.

She is also pursuing the Academic Honors Diploma, which is the most rigorous diploma offered by the State of Indiana.

She is a consistent recipient of honor roll status and chooses to take the more difficult collegeprep courses to prepare for her undergraduate studies.

She has been recognized in Who's Who Among American High School Students, National Honor Roll, and All-American Scholar recipient.

Extracurricular activities include 10-year member of 4-H where she is currently the club's president, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, pep band, Drama Club, bowling team, jazz band, concert choir, District and State Solo and Ensemble contest, All That Jazz vocal jazz ensemble, Sophisticated Ladies, SSA auditioned ensemble, school plays, school musicals and student music director/accompanist, and All-State Choir.
