Adam J. Bonner, Carroll senior
Adam J. Bonner, 18, is the son of Robby and Brenda Bonner.
The Carroll Junior/Senior High School senior was nominated by his pastor, Jeff Tomson.
Bonner is a 10-year member of 4-H and a five-year member of Junior Leaders who does many service projects such as Relay for Life, Christmas baskets, volunteers with the Flora's and Burlington's Kiwanis Clubs and the Flora Lions Club.
Through 4-H and Junior Leaders he has planted flowers at the senior citizen's home, delivered food and toys to needy families for Christmas, filled Easter eggs for the Easter egg hunt, and supplied children's books and valentines to needy families.
He has helped with the blood bank, breakfasts, auctions, Moonlight Madness and Halloween parties for various community projects. He has also volunteered for four years with the local TV station as an anchor.
He films school board meetings and a few church services.
He also assisted the Psi Iota Xi sorority with their annual fundraiser where they made over 1,200 logs of cookie dough.
He has been a camp counselor for 4-H camp for three years and is also a member of the Extension Board through 4- H and Purdue University. He is one of only two teenagers who has ever served a term on the Extension Board or any board in the Carroll County 4-H program.
He has been on the honor roll for four years and has a grade point average of 3.5.
He has also been in the National Honor Society for two years, Key Club and Student Council for four years, and Swim Team Captain for two years.
His extracurricular activities include swimming for four years in which he has received four letters and was the team captain for two years, football, soccer, and track for four years with four letters received.
He is the Vice President for the Student Council that he has served for four years. He is also in the Spanish Club, Key Club, S.W.A.T., F.C.C.L.A (District 5 Vice President for three years), Historians, Drama Club, Cadet teacher, school newspaper, P.E.E.R.S., D.A.R.E., and Cougar Blues.
Bonner is currently employed full time as a lifeguard and gives swimming lessons at the high school pool for the community for eight weeks each summer for the last two years.
He is also employed as a cameraman at the Channel 2 TV station once or twice a month, and does janitorial duties at his church two hours a week.
He has also sold advertisements for his county newspaper, Carroll County Comet.
