Destiny Hughes,North White senior

Destiny Hughes, 18, Monticello, is the daughter of Kevin and Lori Raderstorf.

The North White senior was nominated by her teacher, Ted Titus.

Hughes has helped make blankets and set up bingo for senior citizens, volunteered at White County 4-H Fair at the Tri-Kappa booth, helped with school-sponsored blood drives and flu pandemic vaccinations, participated in the Scrubby Bear Program, volunteered for church food drives, and has tutored younger kids and peers.

She has been on the A Honor Roll throughout high school and ranks first in her class with a grade point average of 3.98. She has received the DAR Good Citizen Award, the "I Dare You" Award, won the VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Contest, participated in the Richard Lugar Symposium, and received Who's Who Award.

She has been elected to the National Honor Society and is member of the C-team. She serves as class representative for the German Club, Captain of Science Academic Team in 10th grade and has received two first place ribbons. She is a member of the Math and English Academic Teams and the Academic Quiz Bowl Team, and has received sixth place in the Midwest Math Conference.
