Alderman loses close match in state finals
DCHS senior ends season 41-1 Alderman loses close

Oracle junior Donovan Alderman closed out his wrestling season at the IHSAA State Finals held Friday in Indianapolis.

In first round competition, Alderman lost a close contest to Eli Michael (29-3) of Columbia City. The score was tied 0-0 at the end of the first period. Alderman chose down and quickly reversed Michael, making the score 2-0. Alderman nearly rode him out for the rest of the period, however Michael got away to score an escape for a 2-1 score at the end of the second period. Alderman almost had near fall criteria a few times, but with just a few seconds left, Michael reversed Alderman to win the match 3-2 at the buzzer.

"Alderman had a very productive year," said coach Mike Atwood. "He led the team in wins with 41 and finished the year with an impressive 41-1 record."

Alderman has the second highest number of wins in a year in Delphi history. He led the team in takedowns with 109, setting a new team record. The previous record was 100 set last year by Michael Atwood.
