She was born Nov. 21, 1956, in Lafayette, to Richard L. and Patsy A. Heiny Grauel.
She was a 1975 graduate of Frontier High School. While attending school, she worked at State Farm Insurance in West Lafayette as a participant of a work-study program. She also served as president of the program.
After graduation, she continued working for State Farm for 10 years. She found her passion substitute teaching in Carroll County schools.
Ms. Watson was baptized at the Federated Church in Brookston. She enjoyed watching her fiancé, Jeff, race his winged midget cars. She also loved her grandchildren, playing euchre, Longenberger Baskets and Boyd's Bears.
Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Ron Schmierer, of Monticello; her father and his fiancée, Marjorie Muller of West Lafayette; her grandmother, Adeline Miller of Monticello; her fiancé, Jeff Shoemaker of Delphi; two daughters Jill Mears (husband: Andie) and Jennifer Watson, both of Brookston; a son, Jack Watson of Brookston; two grandchildren, Nolan and Lacie Mears, both of Brookston; a sister, Michelle Kusley (husband: Tracy) of Marietta, Ga.; three step-sisters, Cindy Joyner of Viaslia, Calif., Mary Lynn Mayer and Georieann Eldridge (husband: Ross), all of Fort Collins, Colo.; three stepbrothers, Jeff Schmierer (wife: Kim) of West Lafayette, Edward Schmierer Sr. and Jeff Brooks, both of Fort Collins; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Saturday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. The Rev. Leland McReynolds officiated. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.
Memorials may be given to the Emmaus Mission Center in Logansport.
