Betty E. Rodkey
Fort Wayne. She had been a patient there month. for the past month. Born Dec. 7, 1921, on the family farm in Flora, she was the daughter of Charles and Ethel Walker Ridenour. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 1939. Her marriage was on Aug. 3, 1952, on the family farm, to Harold Rodkey, who died Feb. 28, 1978. Mrs. Rodkey assisted with the family farm, both with her husband and after his death. A Democrat, she served as Carrollton Township Trustee. Mrs. Rodkey was a longtime member of the Burlington United Methodist Church and was a current member of the Kempton United Methodist Church. She was an avid seamstress and had previously worked at Gossard Garments in Logansport. She was a former member of the Carrolltonettes Extension Homemakers Club. Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Skalicky (husband: Gene) of Fort Wayne; a son, Michael Rodkey of Kokomo; and six grandchildren, David Skalicky, Brandon Skalicky, Andrew Skalicky, Olivia Skalicky, Corinne Skalicky, and Zachery Dalton. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Ridenour and Gail Ridenour. Services were held Monday at Baker Funeral Home, Flora (www.bakerfh.com). Pastor Charles Rockey and Pastor Richard Covert officiated. Burial was at Beech Grove Cemetery, Sharon. Memorials may be made to the family trust fund. |
