Roscoe M. Rhine Roscoe
Roscoe M. " R o c k y " Rhine, 89, of D e l p h i passed away Feb. 13, 2007, at St. E l i z a b e t h Healthcare Center, Delphi. He had there for the been a resident there for the past 13 months.
Mr. Rhine was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Clinton County, to David and Mary Merrill Rhine. He was a 1936 graduate of Dayton High School. His marriage was to Dorothy J. Disinger on June 30, 1961, and she survives.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was stationed in the South Pacific Theater.
Mr. Rhine farmed in Cass County, then moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where he was grounds keeper for the Scottsdale Country Club. He then managed Country Park Estates in Kokomo from 1968 to 1981. In 1978, he developed land in Delphi and created Rhineland Mobile Home Park, which he owned and operated with his wife.
Mr. Rhine attended the Delphi Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed traveling with his family.
Surviving are: two daughters, Diane Johnson (husband: Brad) of Flora and Patricia Fenex of Holbrook, Ariz.; two sons, William "Bill" Isley (wife: Diane) of Flora and David Rhine of Barrington, Ill.; two brothers, John Rhine (wife: Ruth) and Donald Rhine (wife: Helen), all of Delphi; five sisters, Ruth Davis of Carmel, Mary Lauderdale (husband: Otis) and Virginia Morgan, all of Delphi, Betty Smith (husband: Ray) of Sheridan, Wyo., and Imogene Reed of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; an infant daughter, Peggy; two brothers, Maurice and Paul; and a sister, Maxine.
Services were held Saturday at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi, with Dr. Rich and Rev. Carol Schenck officiating. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with full military rites provided by Delphi American Legion.
