Zenas Humphrey

Zenas "Joe" Humphrey, 78, of rural D e l p h i , passed away Feb. 15, 2007, at 2:22 p.m. at Heritage Healthcare

in West Lafayette. March 7, 1928,

He was born March 7, 1928, in Zion, Ill., to William S. and Addie B. Morey Humphrey. His first marriage was to Martha Collins on Dec. 24, 1949, in Delphi. She preceded him in death Oct. 28, 1994. He married Bonnie Wilson on Feb. 2, 1996, in Delphi, and she survives.

Mr. Humphrey retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad as a signal maintainer in July 1993. He had worked there for 27 years. He also worked at Delphi Auto Supply for 15 years.

He attended schools in Zion and served with the Army Corps of Engineers in Korea.

He was a member of Delphi Veterans of Foreign Wars, Delphi American Legion, and the International Brotherhood of Signalmen.

Mr. Humphrey was an avid Purdue fan. He also enjoyed watching the Colts and Pacers. He loved his family and trains.

Surviving are a son, Robert Zenas Humphrey of Galveston; two daughters, Cheryl Griffin (husband: Ken) of Dayton and Mary Ann Fair of Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Greta Kessler (husband: Bob) of Monticello and Cathy Kesterson (husband: Brian) of Delphi; a brother, Larry Humphrey of Pittsburg; a sister, Beverly Walker of Delphi; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Lee Humphrey, and a sister, Della Humphrey.

Services were held Monday at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi, with Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiating. Full military rites were provided by Delphi VFW and American Legion. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.
