Tax deadline is extended

Governor Mitch Daniels announced Feb. 15 that he extended the deadline for filing Indiana taxes to April 17. This gives Hoosiers one extra day to file their 2006 returns.

Department of Revenue Commissioner John Eckart said the new date also applies to other filing deadlines including extensions and first quarter estimated income tax payments.

Taxpayers may also use IFile, a free online tax-filing program, to file and pay their state income taxes until 11:30 p.m. April 17. Visit www.ifile.in.gov for information concerning online filing.
