Carroll County Habitat

Carroll County Habitat for Humanity held its regular meeting Feb. 8 at the Delphi Public Library. Rev. Janet Hildreth led devotions.

Adam Murphy of Lafayette Habitat was present.

The 2007 Body of Christ Build is obtaining commitments from county churches to participate. Partner family selection is progressing.

The annual soup supper will be March 17 at Honan Hall. The public is invited.

A volunteer grant writer is needed.

The next regular meeting will be March 6 at 7 p.m. at Camden United Methodist Church. Anyone interested in learning about Habitat is invited attend.

THE LEARNING NETWORK OF CLINTON COUNTY, part of the Purdue Extension Office, will offer its next round of educational courses to Carroll County residents. Subjects offered and dates are: "Discover Your Computer" Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.; "Microsoft PowerPoint" Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.; "Basic Investment Workshop" March 5 at 7 p.m.; and "ServSafe" April 12 at p.m. The network's spring schedule will include "Microsoft Excel" and "Digital Photography" courses. WEDNESDAYS IN THE WILD will sponsor an indoor program, "Indiana Fossils from East to West," Feb. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lilly Nature Center. Peggy Fisherkeller, curator of geology at the Indiana State Museum, will lead discussion concerning why fossils are found in certain geographic regions. The center is located on the north side of Lindberg Rd. between Northwestern Ave. and McCormick Ln. in West Lafayette. Contact Mary Cutler at (765) 567-2993 for information.

The WEST CENTRAL CHAPTER OF THE INDIANA NATIVE PLANT AND WILDFLOWER SOCIETY will host a Nature Journaling Workshop Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Lilly Nature Center Celery Bog. Attendees will learn from Jean Jamsa how to increase enjoyment, observation and appreciation of the natural world through writing and quick drawings. No art skills are necessary.
