Lady Cougar 7th on winning track

Carroll's 7th grade Lady Cougars A basketball team started slow, but are back on the winning track.

They started the season with a 26-7 victory over Caston. In their second outing they suffered their first loss, dropping a game to Western 28-12. They fell below .500 with a 23-19 loss at Tri- County. The young Lady Cougars then turned it around, recording two victories in a row. They edged Clinton Prairie 17-15 and followed that with a 23-14 win over Frontier, moving their record to 3-2 on the season.

The Lady Cougars B-team also enjoys a winning season with a 3-1 record. They defeated Caston 12-8, North White 12-2, and Frontier 14- 6. Their only set back has been a loss to Western.

Delphi 8th girls defeat Bulldogs

Delphi 8th grade girl's basketball team easily defeated Clinton Prairie last week, 34- 17. Carli Rouhier and Whitney Arion led the Lady Oracles with 8 points each. Chanler Norman added 6, Randee Schultz 4, Grace Mears and Brittany Abbott split 6 points, and Britanni Rhodes had 2.

Special Olympics Cougars win 1 of 3

Carroll County Cougars Special Olympics basketball team competed in the 40- team, double elimination tournament held at Taylor University, Upland.

In game 1, the Cougars were defeated 36-27 by the Madison County Ravens. Todd Yates led the Cougars with 12 points. Conner Wells added 6, Jarrod Hisey 4, Randy Hoffman and Chuck Fry Jr, 2 each, and Aaron Hensley 1.

The Cougars rebounded in the second game, winning 26-16 over the Clinton County Eagles. Yates again was high scorer for his team with 8 points. Hisey and Nick Martin split 10 points, and Andrew Hensley, Fry, Aaron Hensley, and Hoffman all had 2 points each.

The Delaware County Rebels held the Cougars scoreless until the fourth quarter, crushing the Cougars 48-4. Aaron Hensley and Hoffman were the only two to score for the Cougars.

Rockets split games

The Carroll County Rockets Special Olympics basketball team split a pair of games last week.

The Rockets pulled away from the Tippecanoe County Tigers in the fourth quarter for the 30-20 win. Doug Mc- Carty was high scorer for the Rockets with 10 points. Ron Rice had 6 points, Cody Martin, Jesse Cadwallader and Stephen Cadwallader had 4 each, and Josh Hartman 2.

The loss was to the Tippecanoe County Lakers, 38-16. Paul Knight led the Rockets with 8 points, while Martin and Rice split 8.
