Hilda E. Huffer

Hilda E. Huffer, 95, died at 7:20 a.m. Feb. 11, 2007, at Milner Community Health Care Center, Rossville.

Born July 4, 1911, in Pulaski, County, she was the daughter of Henry and Bertha Doll Paschen. She graduated from Metea High School in 1929. On March 8, 1935, she married Bryan Huffer, and they moved to the Burlington community in 1949. He died Feb. 14, 1969.

Mrs. Huffer was a homemaker. She also worked at the IGA store in Burlington for several years.

She was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church, Burlington Extension Homemakers Club, and Carroll County Democratic Women's Club.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling and activities at the Burlington Senior Center.

Surviving are a son, Dale Huffer (wife: Jo Ann) of Cutler; a daughter, Mary Lou Gerhart (husband: Phil) of Evansville; four grandchildren, Suzi Huffer of Cutler, Karen Casto of Rossville, Ann Bauer (husband: John) of Florissant, Mo., and Andy Gerhart (wife: Amy) of Farmington, Mich.; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilber Paschen of Logansport; and two sisters, Edith Chapman of Logansport and Helen Hutchinson of Florida.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Neptune Funeral Home, Burlington. Pastor Chuck Rockey will officiate and burial will be at Ball Hill Cemetery, Cutler.

Memorials may be made to the Burlington United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
