Betty L. Beach

Betty L. M a r k s Beach, 78, of D e l p h i , passed away Feb. 8, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. She had been a resident there since Feb. 7 and had been in ill health since June 2006.

Mrs. Beach was born Jan. 27, 1929, in LaGrange, to Doug and Marie Hart Marks. She was a 1947 graduate of La- Grange High School. Her marriage was to John P. Beach on Nov. 2, 1947, in LaGrange, and he survives.

Mrs. Beach was a homemaker and also worked for several years at the former Specialty Shop in Delphi.

She was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. At the church, she was mission chairman, on the prayer-chain committee, trained by Harley Swiggam to teach his Bethel Bible Series, was presented the Jewel of a Woman award, participated in Mother's Time Out babysitting service, and helped with the first English As a Second Language classes at the church.

She was Carroll County Blood Drive chairman for several years. She was charter organizer and chairman for the Delphi Christmas Baskets, a board member for several years for the Carroll County Food Pantry, and a former member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority.

Mrs. Beach enjoyed tle painting, gardening, bird watching, flower gardening and crafts. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who helped all in need, including family, friends and strangers. She also enjoyed supplying children in her neighborhood with cookies.

Surviving are three sons, Terry Beach (wife: Nancy) and Michael Beach (wife: Denise), all of Delphi, and Thomas Beach (wife: Sherry) of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Margarite Wheeler of Centerville, Mich., and Ann David of Sturgis, Mich.; seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

A memorial service was held Feb. 11 at Delphi United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Todd Ladd. The family shared a private interment.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Food Pantry, Carroll County Cancer Association, or donor's choice. Envelopes are available at the church.

Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi was in charge of arrangements.

Roscoe M. Rhine

Roscoe M. "Rocky" Rhine, 88, of Delphi, died at 9:05 a.m. Feb. 13, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi.

Arrangements are pending at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi.
