Walk raises $70K for Open Arms

On a cold and blustery Saturday morning, Feb. 10, approximately 70 teams, over 600 individuals, braved the extreme temperatures and walked a mile to benefit Open Arms, Kokomo Rescue Mission's shelter for homeless women and children. Together with corporate sponsorships and team donations, the fundraiser gleaned close to $70 thousand for the ministry. The original goal was $50K.

With 64 beds and a threephased program that addresses physical, emotional and spiritual needs, Open Arms serves homeless women and children in Howard and the surrounding five counties, a population of over 300,000. In the past year Open Arms has helped more than 300 women and children, providing 9,931 nights of safe shelter, a 53% increase over the past two years.
