Library News Delphi Public The library will be closed Feb. 19 in observance of Presidents' Day. Hours will resume at 10 a.m. Feb. 20. Feb. 15 Story Time theme is "Valentines." Children from toddlers to preschool will enjoy silly, sappy and serious stories and songs about Cupid's favorite day. Baby Lap-sit is at 9:30 a.m., toddlers (ages 2-4) at 10 and preschool (ages 4-6) at 11:30. Parents and/or caregivers should plan to visit too. The award winning Canadian film, "A Simple Curve," will be shown Feb.22 at 7 p.m. in the Gerber Globe Valve Room. The film features the story of Caleb, a small town entrepreneur who is determined to keep his woodworking shop afloat in spite of the relentless idealism of his business partner and father, aging hippie draft-dodger Jim. The decisions Caleb's parents made long ago compromise the choices Caleb must make to save his business. Discussion and refreshments follow the presentation. In Stitches Fiber Arts Circle will meet Feb. 26. Anyone interested in knitting, crocheting, quilting, spinning or any craft-using fiber is welcome. Bring a project to work on and a snack to share with the group. Aspiring Artists ages 12 and older are invited to participate in a Pastel Workshop scheduled for March 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants will try their hand at both oil and dry pastels while learning some tips on how to achieve richly colored works. A small materials fee is due upon registration. For registration or information about programs, call (765) 564-2929. Flora-Monroe Township Basic tax forms for 2006 are now available in the technology center in the library. The government is limiting the variety and amounts of forms due to many people filing electronically. All forms and schedules can be accessed from the government websites. These sites include downloadable forms, instructions and publications. Advanced search is available to find the specific form needed when itemizing. The library's main index page on our website www.flora.lib.in.us, has direct links to the Internal Revenue Service and the Indiana Department of Revenue. The technology center also offers free Internet access to patrons on a first come, first served basis. February is Black History Month. Americans have recognized black history annually since 1926, first as "Negro History Week" that later evolved into Black History Month. February was chosen for the observance because it marks the birthdays of two men who greatly impacted the American black population, Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. Check out the library's special book exhibit on Black History Month that will be on display through the end of the month. The Saturday Morning Book Club will meet Feb. 17 to discuss the novel "A Thousand Acres" by Jane Smiley. New members are always welcome. Blankets and Quilts is the theme for the next preschool storytime - Tuesday at 10 a.m. The library's Dial-a-Story is open 24 hours a day. Call 967- 3814.
