Sport Shorts East Tipp falls to DCMS girls The Oracle 7th grade girl's basketball team was back in action last week at East Tipp. Delphi out played the much taller Trojans in the first quarter, leading 12-1 after one. Delphi played solid defense and improved to 3-1 on the year in the 38-21 victory. Jordan Jargstorf scored 17 and Sydney Walker added 12 to lead the Oracles. The 7th B-team came out on top, in another close game, 15-14. Ashley Soper had 10 points and Carrington Wallace 5 for the Oracles. The Oracle 8th grade girls also won a pair of games against East Tipp. The Oracle A-squad thumped the Trojans 32-7. Brittani Rhodes led the Oracles with 12 points. Whitney Arion added 8 points, Brittany Abbott and Grace Mears had 4 points each, and Chanler Norman and Carli Rouhier had 2 each. Behind Randee Schultz's 16 points, Delphi B-team defeated East Tip 35-20. Megan Yates and Trista Cox had 8 points each, while Mears added 2 and Chelsea Ragan 1. Comets fall to Cats & Shooters The Carroll County Lady Comets Special Olympics basketball team fell to the Cass County Lady Cats & Shooters 26-16. The Comets fell behind in the first quarter and could never catch up. Leading the team was Diana Knight with 10 points. Jesse Knight, Shawna Sherman and Cindy Hartman added 2 points each. Rockets win three in row The Carroll County Rockets Special Olympics men's basketball team won three recent games. The Rockets defeated the Cass County Lions 34-30. The Rockets fell behind early, but worked to steadily regain the lead. Cody Martin led the Rockets with 14 points. Paul Knight added 12 and Doug McCarty 6. An explosive second quarter by the Rockets helped lift them over the Clinton County Golden Wolves, 28-14. Knight was the game's high scorer with 14 points. Jesse Cadwallader, Ron Rice and McCarty had 4 points each, while Cody Martin added 2. The Rockets took a first quarter 14-4 lead over the Clinton County Black Wolves and never looked back. Final score was 38-27, Rockets. McCarty led all scorers with 10 points, while Martin, Knight and Rice each contributed 8 points, and Josh Hartman and Cadwallader had 2 each. |
