Gary L. Minnix

Gary L. Minnix, 70, of Flora, passed away at 5:10 a.m, Mon, Feb. 5, 2007, at L a f a y e t t e Home Hospital.

He was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Carroll County, to Charles Leo and Kathryn Rebecca Reppert Minnix. He was a 1954 graduate of Flora High School. On April 3, 1955, he married Beverly Root in Flora. She preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 1997. On Nov. 16, 2002, he married Shirley Bess at the Valley View Baptist Church in Flora and she survives.

Mr. Minnix worked at Mann Chevrolet in Flora for 42 years and was manager of the body shop when he retired.

He was a 25-year member of the Flora Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Flora Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Valley View Baptist Church in Flora.

Mr. Minnix loved hunting and collecting guns. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Surviving are one daughter, Garan Smith of Flora; one son, Charles Minnix of Walton, Ky.; two stepchildren, Terry Leitschuh of Marine, Ill., and Melissa Dean of Raymond, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora. Pastor Bill Godbey will officiate.
