Piano, vocal students bring home the gold

Students from Carroll Jr.-Sr High School earned high marks at the District Piano/Vocal Solo and Ensemble Auditions on Feb. 3 at North Miami.

The following students received a gold in Group I and are entered in the State Auditions at Warren Central High School on Feb. 17: Piano soloist Leann Hazelgrove; vocal soloists Hope Hayden, Savanah Stevens, and Nick Jones; small vocal ensemble of Chelsea DeVos, Angel Jackson, Kaitlin Kennedy, Kate Moore, Savanah Stevens, and Lauren Wilkinson; large vocal ensemble of Cally Ayres, Chelsea DeVos, Leann Hazelgrove, Aubree Herron, Amber Hughes, Angel Jackson, Kaitlin Kennedy, Anna Scharer, Savanah Stevens, and Lauren Wilkinson; and the mixed quartet of Seth Pencek, Nick Jones, Chelsea DeVos, and Kaitlin Kennedy.

Vocal soloists awarded silver in Group I were Destiny Cowell, Chelsea DeVos, Lacy Pope, Alisha Brower, Lauren Wilkinson, Rachel Jamison, and Seth Pencek. Also awarded silver was the small ensemble of Alisha Brower, Gail Flory, Leslie Johnson, Lacy Pope, Britanny Reef, and Sarah Schnieb.

In Group III, Hope Hayden won gold for her piano solo as did the small vocal group of Alix Parrett, Lauryn Bowman, and Stefanie Schnieb.

Receiving gold medals in Group IV were vocal soloists Emma Packard and Tiffany Jones. Soloist Molly Jewel received a silver. Pianist Patrick Forgey received a gold medal for a perfect piano score. Small vocal group gold went to Jordan Merry, Kayla Tussinger, Hannah Scott, Shelby Spray, Samantha Pickens, Susanna Taylor, Jillian Kennedy, Emma Packard, Harley Davis, Lauren Werner, Hanna Willis, and Mercedes Johnson. Large vocal group silver was awarded to Jillian Kennedy, Emma Packard, Harley Davis, Stephanie Strawcutter, Holly Peters, Madison Dance, and Susanna Taylor. Comment only went to Taylor Miller, Phillisha Varney, and Angel Boyles.
