Ladies and gentlemen…We have a race!
Both Republicans and Democrats running for city offices filed in unison, albeit on different days, to run in the May primary election. Republicans, organized by incumbent Delphi Mayor Lee Hoard filed on Jan. 24, the first day of filing. "We wanted to convey a team concept," Hoard said. "It's nice to have the moral support of party members at the counter," said first time Republican filer, Linda Gretter. Democrats, led by mayoral hopeful Randy Strasser, filed for office Jan. 30. "We are filing together as a team," Strasser said. "We all have the same ideas and ambitions about how to lead the city for the next four years."
