Book Club will meet Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. to discuss Jodi Piccoult's book, "Plain Truth." The story takes place in Lancaster County, Pa., where the discovery of a dead infant in an Amish barn shakes the quiet community. Circumstantial evidence suggests 18-year-old Katie Fisher took the child's life. Ruth Crawn will lead the discussion.

The Evening Book Club will meet Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. to discuss, "An Unfinished Life" by Mark Spragg. An old rancher reluctantly takes in his daughter in-law and granddaughter in the second novel for Spragg. His story telling is rock solid as he covers well-worn territory in language familiar to readers of Cormac McCarthy and Kent Haruf.

Multiple copies of both book selections are available at the main circulation desk.

The Saturday Morning Book Club will meet on Feb. 17 to discuss the novel "A Thousand Acres" by Jane Smiley. Winner of the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the book is loosely based on William Shakespeare's "King Lear." The story is set on a thousand acre farm in Iowa that is owned by a father and his three daughters. The successful Iowa farmer, Larry Cook, decides to divide his farm between his daughters. When the youngest objects, she is cut out of his will. This sets off a chain of events that brings dark truths to light and explodes long-suppressed emotions. Join us for a spirited discussion of this award-winning novel. New members are always welcome.
