FB Food Check Out Day Carroll County Farm Bureau will celebrate Food Check Out Day on Feb. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brosman's IGA in Delphi. A wheel with agricultural questions will be set up, and by spinning and answering correctly, participants could win a one-pound package of IPC (Indiana Kitchen) bacon, one pound of cheese, or popcorn. Two lucky shoppers will be chosen to have the food items in their grocery carts paid for by the Carroll County Farm Bureau. Separating food items from other purchases will show what a small part of a consumer's budget is spent on actual food. Most Americans need only until the first of February to earn enough to pay for their food for the entire year. Compare that with the fact that it takes until mid-April to earn enough to pay for their federal, state, and local taxes. "Producing safe, quality food is the goal of every farmer in Carroll County," said Janice Frey, Carroll County Farm Bureau Woman's Leader. "We at Farm Bureau hope that consumers take note of Food Check Out Day to celebrate agriculture's success in providing abundant, affordable food every day." |
