Robert G. Garrison

Robert G. Garrison, 78, of Flora, passed away at 3:40 p.m., Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at Milner Comm u n i t y Health Care Center in Rossville.

Born Sept. 19, 1928, in Flora, he was the son of J. Don and Esther Clingenpeel Garrison. He graduated from Flora High School in 1949 and married Mary Sue Walker in Flora on Aug. 16, 1952. She preceded him on Dec. 23, 1993.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Unit from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War. He earned the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars and the United Nations Medal.

After his time in the Army, Mr. Garrison worked at Wayne Loan in Flora as a credit manager and loan officer from 1961 to 1987. He worked at Mann Chevrolet in Flora as a salesman from 1987-98.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Flora.

Surviving are one daughter, Dawn Henson (boyfriend: Chris Dankert) of Walkerton; two sons, Dave Garrison (wife: Debra) of Flora and Dan Garrison of Lafayette; one sister, Nancy Kinzie (husband: Ron) of Cleveland, Ga.; five grandchildren, Robert Jacob Garrison, Amy Moye, Amber Thompson, Adam Garrison, and Andrea Henson; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Reinke Funeral Home in Flora. Pastor Pam Ditson-McCall will officiate and burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Flora. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Alzheimer Association or the Carroll County Cancer Association.
